CORY JOYCE TIES CAREER-BEST LATE MODEL FINISH WITH
SECOND PLACE HONORS AT HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
NEWTON, N.C. (June 22, 2009) – The North Carolina
temperature wasn’t the only thing that was hot in Newton
on Saturday night. Cory Joyce turned in an impressive
performance, tying his career-best Limited Late Model
finish of second at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Cory
Joyce qualified his No. 33 Chevrolet on the outside pole
while Kyle Mansch put his No. 17 on the pole for the
35-lap Paramount Auto Group Night at the Races. When
the green flag dropped the Joyce and Mansch proved they
were the class of the field and pulled out to an
impressive lead.

Hungry for his first win, Joyce stayed glued to the
rear bumper of the No. 17. As the laps wound down,
Joyce continued to try to find a way around the No.
17. |
The
No. 33 started to develop a loose-handling condition in
the final laps, and Joyce and Mansch took the checkered
flag just as they started, finishing second and first,
respectively.
