New Number, New Look to Turn Over a New Leaf for Joyce
March 31, 2010
Mooresville, NC

Kicking off the 2010 racing season, Cory Joyce will travel to Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia to make his first career start at the asphalt short track. Some changes have been made in the Cory Joyce Racing stable in the off season, with hopes to boost the team, driver, and overall performance to a new level. Among the changes includes the placement of crew chief Kevin Caldwell. Last year's USAR Pro Cup Champion team leader, Caldwell brings years of experience and a fresh perspective to the growing team.

Not only will the team see changes in personnel, but a fresh, new look will grace the CJR stable. Switching gears for the new year, Cory and the team will unveil a black paint scheme on his machine at Motor Mile. To complete the new look, Cory is reverting back to the number he ran with in his very first go kart races at age eight, sporting the No. 20 once again.

"Bringing back my old number 20 reminds me of when I first started racing, and I'm really pumped to have it back. The new paint scheme looks great and I can't wait to see it at the track," Cory said.

Joyce's last event in November 2009 at Myrtle Beach Speedway ended in disappointment, after leading the way in practice with a quick racecar. Though the event didn't end as planned, Cory learned some valuable lessons through the struggles. Hungry to get back behind the wheel, the 18-year-old hot shoe anticipates tight racing among a stout field of limited late model competitors.

"After a long off season, I'm definitely ready to show off the new car and get back to work," an excited Joyce claimed. "Motor Mile is a tough racetrack, but I'm ready to take on the challenge and I know it'll be a great experience. Kevin (Caldwell) has been a huge help preparing this car, and I know that we have a great setup and the potential to do very well."

Cory and the No. 20 team will head to Motor Mile Speedway for the 50 lap Limited Late Model Event this Saturday, April 3rd. Debuting the new number and black paint scheme, Joyce is looking for a strong finish to begin the year on the right foot.
