Joyce Spreading Cheer During Holiday Season
December 5, 2010
Mooresville, NC

With the racecar safely parked in the shop and no on-track activity until spring, Cory Joyce Racing has an off-season of work and activities planned. Amidst planning for a full-season of racing action and finding speed in his car, Cory Joyce will be participating in two fundraising events this holiday season, benefitting local children.

"This year I wanted to be a part of Stocks for Tots and Cops for Tots once again, two charity events I participated in last year. We had a lot of fun at both events, and I love being able to give back to our community and the kids during the holidays," said the 18-year-old driver. "It's a good feeling to know that I can be part of the reason that a child in need will have a great Christmas that he or she may have not had without the help of these two programs."

The first annual Stocks for Tots took place in December 1989 with a goal to raise awareness of child abuse in North Carolina while bringing together drivers and other members of the racing industry and their fans. Since the first event, Stocks for Tots has raised over $850,000 and distributed nearly 50,000 toys to children and families in the local Mooresville area. Net proceeds from the event go to Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Iredell County. SCAN is a non-profit organization supporting parents and children and raising awareness for child abuse.

Stocks for Tots will take place this Tuesday, December 7th at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. Cory will take part in the Driver Autograph Sessions from 7-9 PM along with several other NASCAR drivers and local standouts. This year, fans will be able to purchase items from the racing memorabilia store which will have items such as autographed sheet metal, wheels, crew shirts donated from several NASCAR teams, and racing tires and wheels. All proceeds from the racing memorabilia store will go towards supporting Stocks for Tots and SCAN of Iredell County to raise awareness about child abuse. Visit StocksForTots.com for more information about the racing-themed charity.

Cops for Tots in Hickory, NC, takes place December 13-16 and runs from 9 am- 12 pm and 3pm-6 pm each day. Hosted by the Hickory Police Department, donations will be accepted at the Christmas Wish House, which is located at the Winkler Park Activity Center on Clement Blvd. All toys donated to Cops for Tots will go to local families who may not be able to provide gifts during the holidays to their children otherwise.
