Cory Joyce Joins Charlotte Checkers for Race Night
Attending for Third Consecutive Year, Joyce Kicks Off 2012 Racing Season

Mooresville, NC (Jan. 24, 2012) - The itch to get back to the race track will be cured briefly this Friday as Cory Joyce joins a long list of on the bill for the Charlotte Checkers Race Night event. Joyce along with several drivers from local racing series' and NASCAR will greet racing and hockey fans alike at Time Warner Cable Arena. Along with motorsports-themed events and a chance to get autographs from some of their favorite drivers, those in attendance will also enjoy a face-off between the Checkers and the Rockford IceHogs.

"This will be my third year at Race Night and every year we always have so much fun at the game. I don't expect it to be any different this year," Joyce explained. "It's great to see the race fans before our season starts and it really helps everyone get pumped for racing again."

Checkers players will wear specially designed jerseys for Race Night that will be auctioned off live following the game, with proceeds benefitting the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

Final plans for Joyce's 2012 racing season will be set soon, but the 19-year-old is planning on running the UARA Series this year. Joyce made his first start in the series at Rockingham last fall where he finished an impressive sixth in the American 200 among a full field of competitive series regulars.

Where: Time Warner Cable Arena, 333 E. Trade St, Charlotte, NC
Timeline: Cory Joyce will join several other drivers from local series and NASCAR in an autograph session for fans from 6-6:45 pm prior to the Charlotte Checkers game.
